1. The Reger-Werkausgabe
1.1.
Scholarly Critical Hybrid-Edition of Works and Sources. Edited on behalf of the Max-Reger-Institut/Elsa-Reger-Stiftung, co-ordinated by Susanne Popp and Thomas Seedorf.
At the beginning of 2008 the Max-Reger-Institut (MRI) in Karlsruhe began working on the Reger-Werkausgabe (RWA). It is a project of the Academy of Sciences and Literature, Mainz, and is funded as part of the Akademienprogramm by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg, Stuttgart.
Editorial directors of the RWA are Prof. Dr. Susanne Popp (MRI) and Prof. Dr. Thomas Seedorf (University of Music Karlsruhe). Full-time research fellows are Nikolaos Beer M. A., Dr. Knud Breyer, Dr. Christopher Grafschmidt, Dr. Stefan König and Claudia Seidl B. A.
The RWA is divided into three parts, devoted to the following areas of Max Reger’s output:
- Organ works
- Songs and choral works
- Arrangements of works by other composers
The RWA’s printed editions are published by Carus-Verlag Stuttgart.
Until volume II/8, RWA published the digital edition's components on DVD enclosed with each respective edition volume. Since October 2021 and simultaneously with the publication of volumes II/2 and II/9, the new webservice RWA online replaces the DVDs.
The implementation and linking of the digital components of the Reger-Werkausgabe is being carried out with the support of the Virtuellen Forschungsverbunds Edirom (ViFE) at the Muiscology Seminar Detmold/Paderborn (University of Paderborn/University of Music Detmold).

Virtueller Forschungsverbund Edirom, Musikwissenschaftliches Seminar Detmold/Paderborn
The Virtueller Forschungsverbund Edirom (ViFE, translates to "Virtual Research Network Edirom") is an association of current and former staff members of the Detmold/Paderborn Department of Musicology who are involved in various projects dealing with the application of digital methods in musicology. The common goal is to promote digital work in the field of musicological research, especially digital editions of texts and sheet music. ViFE organises the annual Edirom Summer School.
ViFE is named after the DFG project on the development of tools for digital forms of scholarly-critical music editions (2006-2012), which became known as "Edirom" and was the starting point for a number of other digital projects.

The Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur, Mainz (AdWL) is an extra-university research institution and academic society.
