1. Composition and Publication

Nothing is known about the composition and publication of the Easter motet Lasset uns den Herren preisen. It was probably commissioned by the Kirchenchor-Verband of the Protestant-Lutheran Regional Church of Saxony for its planned Chorbuch für die Kirchenchöre Sachsens. The only possible reference is found in a letter from Reger dated 16 October 1911 to the publisher responsible, Breitkopf & Härtel, in which he excuses himself for having forgotten to give the courier “who picked up the corrections for the Handel concerto [RWV Händel-H1], the enclosed manuscript, which belongs to you”. (Letter) The whereabouts of the engraver’s copy is unknown. The Chorbuch (Volume C) was published in December 1912.
